 On Thursday, Adobe stock plunged 10% after the software company provided a revenue forecast for the fiscal first quarter that fell far short of analysts' expectations.

The stock had its second-worst collapse in a decade, trailing only a 15% drop in mid-March of last year, when coronavirus fears shook the markets. Adobe's three worst trading days of the year were in December, knocking the stock down 16% for the month and putting it on track for its largest monthly drop since June 2010.

 According to Refinitiv, Adobe's revenue for the fiscal first quarter, which runs through February 2022, will be $4.23 billion, falling short of analysts' expectations of $4.34 billion. Adobe estimates revenue of $17.9 billion for the full year, which is lower than analysts' average estimate of $18.16 billion.

After Adobe's fourth-quarter earnings report, analysts from Atlantic Equities wrote, "We believe the shares will be down today as fears about a slowing expenditure environment and conservative forecast proven to be correct." The company has a buy rating from the firm, which believes the outlook matches the "muted spending environment" seen across the sector.

German warship heads for South China Sea for first time in two decades amid tension with Beijing

 For the first time in over two decades, Germany sent a warship to the South China Sea, joining other Western nations in bolstering their military presence in the region amid mounting concern about China's territorial ambitions.

China claims swathes of the South China Sea and has established military outposts on artificial islands in the waters that contain gas fields and rich fishing.

The US Navy often performs so-called "freedom of navigation" operations in which its vessels travel near to several of the disputed islands as a show of force against Chinese territorial claims. China, for its part, opposes US deployments, claiming that they do not contribute to peace or stability.

Washington has made opposing China a priority in its national security strategy, and it is attempting to unite allies against Beijing's more repressive economic and foreign actions.

The German navy, according to Berlin officials, would stick to traditional trade routes. The frigate is also not scheduled to cruise across the Taiwan Strait, which Beijing has previously criticised as a routine US practice.

Nonetheless, Berlin has made it plain that the mission's purpose is to emphasize Germany's rejection of China's territorial claims.

As China has become Berlin's most significant commercial partner, Germany is walking a tightrope between its security and economic objectives. Exports from Germany have aided in reducing the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak on Europe's largest economy.

Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, Germany's defense minister, visited Wilhelmshaven to see the frigate Bayern off on its seven-month journey to Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam. In mid-December, the vessel is anticipated to transit the South China Sea, making it the first German warship to do so since 2002. "We want existing law to be followed," said the group.

"Freely navigable sea routes, open societies, and trade that follows fair laws," Kramp-Karrenbauer stated.

 NASA postponed a scheduled launch of a Boeing CST-100 Starliner spacecraft to the International Space Station on Thursday after the orbiting outpost was temporarily pushed out of control by jet engines on a freshly docked Russian module that were unintentionally ignited, according to NASA.
The Starliner launch was postponed a day before it was scheduled to take off from Florida's Kennedy Space Center aboard a Boeing 747.

A previous uncrewed Starliner test launch to orbit in 2019 ended with a nearly catastrophic failure of that spacecraft to dock with the space station.
